Tari

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea

Hello to anyone who reads this.

My name is Rihards and Im travelling to PNG this September in a group of 5 people. Would you have any tip or a reliable contact, who could help us find a safe place to stay overnight in Tari? And what about taking a public bus from Tari to Mt Hagen?

I would be grateful for any information you could provide. Thank you!

there is one upmarket lodge ambua, another the warili and a womens guesthouse in which men can stay but you cannot really contact them ahead of time - try searching here and on the tripadvisor forum for more info

PMV buses head to mendi and on to hagen - you may need to change - if you start early it can be done in a day unless there is bad weather, roadblocks, raskols, broken bridges, washed out roads or breakdowns !

what are you doing in tari ?

i havent been as far tari but once you get up past hagen things get pretty wild and tensons are still very high following the recent elections

Hi Rihard,

What did you end up with in Tari? We're flying there on Oct 8 and have no specific plans/accommodation booked (no places answered our emails).

Best,
Sara
