Hi -- I am hoping that some of you have been to Tari and can answer these questions. I read in the LP guidebook that the Saturday market in Tari is a good place "to meet locals in their finery" but it does not say where the market is. Is it in the town or outside of it somewhere ? I plan to stay at the Tari Women's Guesthouse in the town itself and I wonder if anyone knows if the staff there would be able to arrange something with the Wigmen for me? (I know that the more upscale hotels in the area do this but I won’t be staying with them). I don't need a tourist performance or anything like that but i would hate to go all the way to Tari and not meet any Wigmen. I understand that the Wigmen live at some distance from town. (Does anyone know where?) Also is there anywhere to eat in town, since there is no mention of restaurants or cafes or even kai bars in the guidebook. Lastly has anyone been there recently who knows whether there is unrest there at present - I have had some reports that maybe it is not so safe there now and I hate to buy my airline ticket only to find out once I get to PNG that I shouldn’t go to Tari. I will be traveling on my own as a solo woman. Thanks for your help. Susan
I have already answered these same Qs in reply to your mail on VT sg like 2 days ago - please at least read it, it is annoying to feel it was wasting time. | 1
Sorry Lazlo - I had given up checking the VT site and did not see your post there until now when you mention it here. VT is not a site i go to regularly and you don't accept pms on this site.... I thought maybe you were on an extended trip or not checking pms so posted here hoping there were other people on this site who could answer my questions. Believe me, i am not trying to waste your or anyone else's time. Susan | 2
Ok, and I am on an extended trip actually. | 3
hello keen Tari traveler. Tari is defiantly worth traveling to. The woman's guest house is seconds away from the airport and the markets are again few minutes walk from the guesthouse. your very central. If you haven't already traveled yet im happy to answer more questions! | 4
