Traveling Madang-Bogia-up the Sepik RiverCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea
Just got back from PNG and wanted to pass some travel info. From Madang took a PMV 4hours north to Bogia Station. When you get to Bogia stay in the village of Lau Lau, it's just 100meter out of town going north along the water (near the only Guest House in town) the village chef Michael Kauke is amazing friendly and will gladly put you up for the night. it's a pretty village on the water and Michael will happily help u with transportation going north. we stayed 3 nights, sleeping on the sand under one of the thatched roof huts. we bought local food in the market and Michael's wife was kind enough to cook it up for us. we just showed up and was happily welcomed but if you want to call Michael cell number is 718-572-64. tell him Michael and John from Miami say hello. From Bogia its possible to go by PMV up the road and then catch a banana boat up the Sepik to Angoram or catch a boat to Wewak. Happy travels, Michael
Cheers Michael, we're heading tha way in a few weeks so those tips are very helpful - how much can we expect to pay for the boats to Wewak or Angoram? Thanks a lot | 1
From Bogia its possible to go by PMV up the road and then catch a banana boat up the Sepik to Angoram Good news but how much it cost and how often a week? how long is it? its a good way to avoid to come back by flight to PM for taking an other flight | 2
