Travelling between Austrailia and Papua New Guinea??

Hey just wondering if you can get over to PNG from the top end of Oz?? If its possible where from and how much? cheerio

The cheapest way is to fly from Cairns (or Brisbane) with Airlines PNG.
You can check their fares and book online.
There are no passenger ferries.

If you meant the "real" Top End, eg. Darwin, you are out of luck.

yes this is what me and my brother are going to/want to try and do at the tail end of 07. looks so close on a map haha. anyone out there with info by geting in PNG without flying?

Cape York may be close to PNG, but th waters of Torres Strait are pretty treacherous.
I don't know of any scheduled transport.

whilst Airlines PNG is generally the cheapest airline, Air Niugini is the national carrier with the most flights & options including Qantas codeshares from Cairns and Brisbane. I think using them also allows you to use their "See PNG" Air pass which may be worth considering if your plans better suit one way flights rather than having to keep getting return flights & having to keep returning to Port Moresby.
