Trekking

HI :)
One of the things we want in PNG to is going on a trekking trip. We are just not quite sure what it should be. We have read the Kokoda trip primarily illustrate the Australian story. We are not very interested in the Australian history and will therefore hear about Kokoda trip will be a waste of time for us and if, which trek can then be recommended?
We are travelling in october :)

For stunning mountain scenery, Mount Wilhelm is always a good bet.
For culture and villages, the Southern Highlands could be better, though it is a somewhat risky region and you should probably go with an organized tour.
