Unique one week tour of PNG

Looking to go to PNG for a week after some time in northern Australia. I wont have time to trek out to remote islands to see the Birds of Paradise, but I'd like to see some beautiful islands and areas with the most culture. Does anyone have suggestions of what islands I can concentrate on with 6-7 full days?

for a short trip where you can see a lot of variety i would recommend new britain around rabaul - you have the volcano, lots of WW2 sites, beaches, snorkelling, smaller islands, traditional culture, forests and nature
