Weather in PNG in October/November

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea

Hi everyone,
I had been planning for a shorter trip (around 10 days) to PNG in September. My plan was to stay in a lodge or similar in the highlands, do some day trips but no trekking or climbing. The trip is not booked yet. However, now I had to postpone everything to late October/early November.
My question is whether it is advisable or even feasible to travel as planned given the start of the rainy season, and if so, which regions could be recommended (or should be avoided). Any input is highly appreciated.

October / November is the shoulder season between the dry and rainy seasons. I went to PNG in May time, so I imagine the temperatures would be fairly similar. Pretty warm / hot in the lower regions and islands, but much cooler up in the Highlands, especially at night. So much so warm jumpers are required!

Hope that helps!

Simon
