What do to for short time in Port Moresby

I have an option on my flight ticket to stop in Port Moresby for two and a half days.
Not sure if I am going to stopover because it doesn't sound like much to do around that area. Can anyone recommend some day excursions out of Port Moresby?
Also, can anyone help me with inexpensive accommodations?
