Next destination from Pitcairn islands

Hello.
I am going to visit Pitcairn Island this August.
It seems like I should go to Tahiti first to get on the ship to Pitcairn islands.
Then, I should go to latin america from Tahiti (or pitcairn), but all the flights I have found cost like $2000 or above.
Is there any cheaper way to go to latin america? Or any low cost airlines..?

The only direct option is LAN's flight from Papeete to Santiago de Chile (with a stop in Easter Island). I don't know what are the current fares but it's an expensive flight.

Depending where in Latin America you want to go, it could be a better idea to fly from Papeete to the USA and either continue by overland transport (e.g.: to Mexico) or fly.
