I'm travelling to Apia from the 17/06 till the 24/06, unfortunately I don't have a car driver license so I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips for going around the island and where to stay.
Hi there! Too bad you don't have a driver's license, but not to worry. There are buses which you can catch ( see https://www.lonelyplanet.com/samoa/transport/getting-around/bus), you can hitch a ride or even take a taxi if absolutely necessary. Definitely visit Lalomanu, in the south-east of the island, passing Papaseea Sliding Rocks, O Le Pupu-Pue National Park and the amazing To-Sua Ocean Trench. Also, if you have the chance make sure you go to Namua Island, I absolutely loved it! If going this way to the south east, stay at the Manusina Beach Fales, the family who run it are so friendly. (Also, do try to sleep always in the traditional fales if you want the authentic samoan experience. It's just amazing sleeping outdoors, by the sea, with nothing but a mattress and a roof made of leaves above your head) :) | 1
Thanks for this reply as I found it helpful. About beach fales, do I need to book ahead as I usually don't like to do this or is it a must to do so? Do the most budget ones get booked early? I am looking to be in Samoa from mid to end of April. Is there one you d recommend staying at, on both Upolu and Savaii, please? Thanking you! | 2
