Beaches near Apia

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

Hey Everyone

Can anyone tell me the names and location of some good beaches close to Apia. I've been reading about the beaches on the southern side of the island but I am staying in Apia for work and would prefer not to have to cross the island by public transport for a quick swim.

thanks

Riley

The answer is simple: there are no good beaches all over the northern side of the island. Not one.

A reasonable option for you might be Palolo Deep Marine Reserve near to the harbour in Apia. At least at high tide you can do some pretty good snorkeling there. I would not really call it a beach though ... But a quick swim will be possible.

I remember on my first trip to Samoa I attempted to have a dip in front of the Princess Tui Inn at the urgings of some local kids.

How dreadful! There was broken glass, rubbish etc and the water was SO dirty. I got into to my knees and then decided to wait until I got to Lalomanu.

There used to be a an ok family beach at Vaiala and a nice small one at the end of Mulinuu but they got messed up with coral rock when they had the hurricanes a several years back. Aloha

There is a spot.. called Taumesina.. I believe. Its a park.. I love to go there for a swim in the evening, just at sunset. The water is gorgeous. It's not really a BEACH ... but it's a park.. that you can get into the water.
It's the BEST place near/in town to swim.

Anything else you want to know.. just ask.. Kristin.. ktthorn@aol.com
Have a great time... I am envious....

Not worth the money anymore since it is a hotel development area, all trees are gone and a dam is built connecting the nice small island to the 'mainland'.
