do you have any advice for a cheap beach fale accomodatin at Upulo? Many people recommend Tafuna Fales but I read that there are more families than maybe backpackers or other travellers who are on theire own?! And it is compared to accommodations on Savaii not cheap with 120 Tala.
I would like to stay for 2 nights. Will it be neccessary to book in adavance when I am going to Samoa in October?

I believe your trip is over but for any future users that land on this thread, I would really, really recommend Vaiula Beach Fale on the south side of Upolu. It costs 60 tala per person including breakfast and dinner, so offers great value. There was a great mix of people there (other backpackers, couples, singles), and Dave who runs the place has some excellent stories to tell (ask him about the beautiful, naked tourists of yesteryear). It is next to a gorgeous beach and close to some of Samoa's top sights. We stayed in October and found that there was no need to book ahead.
