Christmas Cards?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

Do they have them?, send them?, anything unique or are they imported from elsewhere?

I think they're imported. I received one from PNG a while back; a National in a Santa hat, a cigarette dangling from his lips, puffing and wheezing his way up a hill with a sack on his back. I believe the card was made in Australia but am not sure. I've seen the usual run-of-the-mill Christmas cards on sale in Fiji and Solomons, like the typical ones sold everywhere at Christmas, as well as local type cards unique to the country they're from, and I always receive these country-oriented cards from Fiji, Solomons and Tonga. I think the Fijian ones are made in Fiji, but Solomons probably imports them. Not sure about the ones in Tonga.

If you are in Samoa looking for them you might try Marita Wendts store at her home just a few hundred yards away from the entance gate to Alafua Agricullture college. She has a lot of classy, locally made stuff and that may include xmas cards. I highly recommend her place to anybody visiting Samoa. It is where all the ex-pats living in Samoa go to. Aloha
