Driver in Apia

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

Any tips on hiring a driver for a day of touring in early October? My family and I are taking a cruise to New Zealand and will be stopping for a day in Apia. We will need transportation for 2 adults and 3 children. Thanks for any help.

As anywhere, the reliability and ethics of the taxi drivers can vary widely in Apia. I would suggest you stop by the Samoa Tourism Authority fale located in front of the Government Building in Apia and have them help you line up a driver. There are a number of taxi vans around, and depending on where you want to go you should be able to negotiate a fare which isn't too much higher than renting a car yourself. You can contact the STA in advance through their website at visitsamoa.ws.

Write to my friend Carol... she lives there.
I know she took a group on a tour of the island.. and the LOVED it.
She is a wonderful lady.. Very trustworthy and reliable.
Most likely what you should do.. it write to her..
ask her opinion.. and go from there.

Possibly, you could rent a van and have her give you the island tour.
If she can't do it.. she may be able to set it up for you.

Give her a call 011-685-777-1914
Tell her.. Kristin told you to call. have a great trip.
