Falealupo Rainforest Reserve

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

Hi,

I've read about the Falealupo Rainforest Reserve which features a treetop canopy walkway built about 40 metres above the ground.

Has anyone been there before?
How do I get there?

My partner and I will be in Samoa for one week Mid-August, and so far we're planning on hiring taxis to get us to places.

Where exactly is this Reserve and the walkway?
Can a taxi take us there if we stay in a beach fale on the southern coast?
Are Fale operators generally able to ring a taxi for us?

Sorry if this is a stupid question :)

Edit: Oh, I just saw that the Walkway is on Savaii??

Yes, it is on Savaii and it is shut down anyway. You can still climb up the tree using stairs but the Canopy Walkway is not in use anymore.

Shame it has closed but not really suprised , it was not worth the price asked and the guide was not able to answer any of our questions re fauna or flora.
Was not much more than just a ladder strung between 2 trees.
You climbed up one and down the other.

well, at least I don't have to feel gutted anymore that we are on the 'wrong' island! :)

some one should tell them to change this information on www.visitsamoa.ws :)

thanks for your info, that's good to know.
