Ferry to Pago Pago

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

Hello

I will arrive in Samoa next Monday late at night and want to go to Pago Pago with the
"Lady Naomi" ferry on Wednesday.
Since they don't accept any kind of online reservation, will there be any chance to get a ticket
for that Wednesday-ferry on Tuesday?
If so, can I purchase the ticket somewhere in Apia or have I to go to the Aleipata wharf
for getting it ?

Also, can anybody recommend a decent hotel/ guesthouse in Apia for the expected two
nights which can arrange aiport transfer?

Any help highly appreciated

Unless there happens to be an unusually large traveling group, the ferry is always open. The price is about 2/3 the air fare.

By the way entering Pago Harbor by boat is a fabulous experience, The high volcanic walls surround you immediately.

If you are on a budget try Scanlan's Hotel right in town. Shared bath single is $35. Go to the BusyCorner Magazine On-Line for free adventure activities.

Enjoy your stay.

Doesn't their reservation page work?

If not, you can drop into their office in Apia (beside Aggie Greys) on the Tuesday and get the ticket then, provided it's not fully booked.

Thanks a lot for your input.

I tried the so called online reservation and received the following - quotation : "Sorry Mr...., I cannot confirm your reservation, because you must be here in our office at Matautu Tai
to pay your ferry and you must bring your passport."

Sounds fantastic :-)
