Finding a mask and snorkel in ApiaCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa
I had to get rid of my poor old mask and now I'd need a new one to survive my remaining week(s) in Samoa as I'm going to Namu'a island and Lalomanu where I'm sure they don't have any of this equipment. Do you know any places in Apia to find a cheap set, or even rent a little better one? I'm going to get a good new mask once back home with some new money but now I'd manage with just basic equipment. Anyone been to Namu'a recently?
There were plenty of them at Taufua Beach Fales in Lalomanu but I think they are all gone now, because of the Tsunami. Anyway, 'Seb und Rene's' is the sport equipment store to provide good quality mask and snorkel (for sale of course). Why wait until you get home? They are at Motootua, a little bit further up the hill from the National Hospital. | 1
You're right about getting a good one right away, but the only thing why I'll get another one "back home" is that I wear glasses and that's why I'd like to get a mask with "lenses" but if it gets too expensive then I'll go with contact lenses and normal mask. I'll visit that store very soon. | 2
No lens adapted goggles or masks on offer in Samoa (yet), that is right. | 3
I have agreat soltion for you - order optical swim goggles and use a snorkle fitted to it. I used them in Fiji and they were marvellous. They can be ordered online at https://www.clearlycontacts.ca/glasses/best-sellers/prescription-swimming-goggles/prod41001.html | 4
