from samoa to tokelauCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa
hi guys, we hope to visit it one day!
I just checked what is in the Tokelau section of this website and all information is there. And here I copy what I wrote as an answer to your identical question on TripAdvisor: By boat from Apia is not only the best way to get to Tokelau - there is no other way to get there. http://www.tokelau.org.nz/Tokelau+Government/Visiting+Tokelau/FAQs.html This website gives you the basic information and don't hesitate to email the people at the Tokelau Liaison Office. They are really friendly and helpful. There is a boat going there about every two weeks - but do not trust any schedule you might get. Delays of up to one week are not uncommon and there is no alternative to just waiting in Samoa (which is a rather pleasant experience though). The same goes with returning - leave yourself ample time in Samoa or buy tickets that can easily be changed. You will not really know in advance which day you really will be back. Having said that - from all I heard from European people who were there, it's an interesting and rewarding experience. The islands are so small - you can walk around one in an hour. Free high speed internet though and other ameneties. Excellent schools with online links to the University in Fiji. Don't expect any 'remote island life'. Somehow it's New Zealand and you feel it I got told. But certainly some kind of special place. You need to contact the Liaison Office well in advance to do your booking and your visa (yes, you need a visa). | 1
