we are looking at travelling to samoa for a 2 week family holiday (kids will be almost 1 and 2 1/2). does anyone have a good recommendation for somewhere great to stay as this can really make or break the experience of an overseas adventure with kids?! thanks
Hi there, it´s been a while that I´ve been to Samoa (2006), but I really liked Virgin Cove Resort in the Southwest of Upolu. It is set in a lovely little lagoon with shallow water, ideal for swimming with kids, on a white sandy beach. Back then they had different classes of rooms/fales, from cheaper backpacker style to honeymoon fales and quite affordable. The food was great and the hosts very friendly. You can get some more updated facts on their website: http://www.virgin-cove.ws/ | 1
Hi there I've been travelling to Samoa for many years and the best budget place I've found to stay on Upolu is Taumesina Hideaway in the village of Moata'a about 10 mins from Apia. It is set on a lagoon which leads into the harbour. You can swim and snorkel and its very safe for kids. You live in a village so get to know true Samoans and their culture and hospitality. There are 4 small enclosed fales that are self contained with ensuite and cooking facilities if needed. There is also a fan just in case the sea breezes aren't enough to cool you down. Your hosts, Masi and Sara are fantastic and go out of their way to help. Go to sleep of a night time to the sound of the waves rolling over the nearby reef, experience stunnning sunrises and beautiful scenery. It's a great base to use to travel around Upolu. Breakfast can also be supplied. Just go to taumesinahideaway.com and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for. Great prices too. | 2
