Can anyone tell me if the island of Savaii has been affected by the tsunami. We're booked to go in December and I believe Apia is untouched - we have a few days there before taking the ferry to Savaii. We're wondering if the coral has been affected as we want to snorkel.
All northern coasts in Samoa have not been affected in any way, including the coral. Apia is untouched as well as most of Savaii (some rather small damages in some places at the South and South-east Coast). Your stay in December will not be hampered and it would be most needed and appreciated if you keep visiting Samoa. | 1
Hi there! My partner and I have just returned from Samoa. We were fortunate enough to be on Savaii when the earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit. I was actually snorkelling the afternoon after the tsunami and I can say it's uneffected! The whole Island of Savaii got off very lightly and I can recommend you still going! | 2
