May surf mish to Samoa

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

Kia ora,

Im heading to Samoa in May for 2 weeks on a surf/outdoors style trip with my chick. Have had heaps of good reports about the waves and place. But getting quite mixed reviews on the accomodation. Probably going to split our trip in 2 and spend a week on Upolu and a week on Savaii. Ive been looking around at Fale accomodation. Maninoa seems to get a mixed bag of reviews...from epic!! to expensive and pretty average. Can anyone reccomend a place around the south coast that wont be over flowing with surfers and isnt to pricey. Also have been looking at Satuiatua on the western end of Savaii. What are the waves like around there?? Very user friendly or balls to the wall? Ive done plenty of travelling so Samoa shouldnt be too much of a challenge. Just keen to find a mellow place with good waves, and nice food. And not too crazy, both on land and in the water.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

we stayed at Satuiatua and our friend had to get permission from the village to surf there, not sure what he thought of it though. His whole family had to go and meet the head guy to get persmission, you can't just expect to surf there. it is a great spot though and was one of our favourite fales.
