Mobile data planCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa
I'm off to Samoa for 5 nights in late October and upon discovering that our resort charges an arm and a leg for WiFi (it is not complimentary) I wondered about a sim card to use just for mobile data. I understand there are two main providers of this, but trying to get information about where they work has not been easy (I even emailed one of them, never head back). We're staying on the south coast and I just want to know that if I buy a sim card (at the airport presumably?) that it will work on the south coast. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this? Many thanks!
We've been happy with Digicel for mobile data on Upolu (have not been to Savaii so no idea how it performs there). Digicel gives you a few free Gbs when you top up each time which we like. There are both Digicel and Bluesky booths out along the road where the taxis wait if you are flying into the international airport (Faleolo) and if flying in domestically (Fagalii) there is a mart/stand across the street with Digicel. We've stayed at Lalomanu on the south coast and Digicel had great reception. I seem to remember sporadic dead zones while driving the south coast, but nothing that lasted more than a few minutes. Hope this helps, and have a great time in Samoa! | 1
