photography in samoa

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

Hello, can anyone tell me of potential problems photographing in Samoa or protocols that should be observed ?
I do not really photograph people, however it can appear at times I may be.

Anything anyone knows would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I don't think you'll have any problems. In fact, a lot of Samoans will be willing subjects for your photography if you want them to be... They're pretty laid back folks.

That being said, it is always polite to ask first, especially if they are on their own property.

You may also be asked to pay to take photos.
The call of "Two Tala"can frequently be heard just when stopping to look at the view followed by residents arriving to collect same.

We were over there 5 months ago and had no problems at all.
We didnt take a great deal of photos, but whenever we did there were always people more than happy to be in them.
