Review of LalomanuCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa
We have just returned from a wonderful relaxing week in Lalomanu. This was our first trip back since the rebuild after the 2009 Tsunami, prior to that we had stayed many times in Lalomanu and called by in December 2009 to see the devastation for ourselves. We are delighted that the families of Lalomanu have rebuilt their fales, businesses and the tourists are coming back. We stayed at Taufau Beach Fales where the fales were comfortable, the staff very friendly and the food plentiful. Taufau Beach Fales are certainly aimed at the backpacker traveller, and doing a fantastic job. Next door slightly more expensive but seemed to have those extra luxuries that we are often looking for is Litia Sini with lovely clean, modern enclosed fales overlooking the beach. We chose to spread our dollar around and stayed at Taufau but lunched each day at Litia Sini. The fresh tuna served up differently each day was absolutely fantastic, the staff very friendly and again just those extra details such as the lovely large square plates, good wine and the most fabulous views across Lalomanu beach. Whilst the coral at Lalomanu has been completely devastated the fish have certainly returned and as wonderful and colourful as ever. We were even fortunate to come across a couple of turtles on two days, one of which was quite happy to continue feeding on the bottom for quite some time, For us Lalomanu was and continues to be the best spot on Upolu, what a way to spend a week.
