Samoa in June

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

Hi there,
My boyfriend (avid and experienced surfer) and I are going to Samoa for 2 weeks mid June. We were going to do about 6 days on each main island and would like to stay in a Beach Fale that is fairly close to some good surfing. The beach at Lalumanu sounds beautiful but not sure how good the surf is around there. Would like some input from some surfers who have been travelling to Samoa recently. Thanks so much!!
Jo

Hi Jo
Went to Samoa last year. Would recommend Taufua Beach Fales on Lalomanu Beach although there was little/no surf when I was there. Great snorkeling and good accommodation at cheap rates on one of the best beaches in Samoa.

If your after surfing the best resorts are near the village siumu. I stayed at sinalei reef resort which is a bit expensive although right next door to Sinalei is Maninoa Surf camp which is cheap like Taufua. They also offer boat shuttles out to the break at a small fee.

Please understand that these fale accommodation is rough camping style with communal bathrooms and eating areas.

I would advise if your staying 6 nights on upolu 3 nights at each of these places.

Hope this advice hasnt reached you too late.
What dates are you travelling? Im thinking of visiting again 22 june to 6th july.

Thanks for your help! We've booked accommodation now, a bit of a mix to make us both happy. I've read really bad reviews on surfing websites for Maninoa so we're not staying there but at a few places close by.
