samoa in november?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

hi- im thinking of traveling to samoa(and maybe tonga) in november, early december, a month and half total. i know this is the rainy season, but will it be really really rainy? will a trip of this lentgh be dominated mostly by rain or will there be plenty of sunshine as well? thanks for any insight.

You may be on the beginning cusp of the rainy season so you are probably (emphasis on "probably") going to have fair weather also.

I go to Samoa at the height of the rainy season (Jan. - Feb.) every year. Most times I see sunny mornings with torrential thunderstorms in the afternoon or at night. I believe extended periods of downpours can be quite uncommon, which was not the case in my sojourn in 2006 when it rained for 2 weeks solid. This was the only time when I can say the precipitation interferred with my activities.

No comment, apart from the fact we just got back from two weeks and agree with Islandboi - except it didnt rain for two weeks solid, mostly just pm or nights,, a nice repreive

I was also there last year during that 2 weeks' solid rain period mentioned by islandboi.
That was plain awful, with floods, etc.
Assuming that was something exceptional and the "normal" rainy season is like elsewhere in the tropics, you should be OK.
