Samoa in October - Wet rain or sunny rain?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

Hi,

We are looking at 8 days in Samoa at the end of October. This is getting towards the rainy season. Will rain stop us having fun?

I’ve checked the websites for Samoa’s climate (October is starting to get rainy), but what’s it like when you are there? i.e. is it UK rain (only 4mm a day, but low level mist, permanent grey skies and a general feeling of foreboding) or is it NZ rain (numbers look twice as big, but it’s over in 30 min then you have sun sun sun)?

Thanks for your thoughts…

Very hard to predict the weather, especially nowadays where things are changing and the experience of previous years does not mean that much anymore.

However, the UK rain pattern is very uncommon in Samoa overall, even in the middle of the rainy season. Usually its periods of rain (and then it's always heavy rain) and the sun coming out again. However the periods might be substantially longer than 30 minutes. But full days of rain are rather unlikely in October.

Thanks for the quick response. Even better is that that is exactly what I wanted to here :)

And don't forget that the temperature will be about 30 degrees. And the water temperature about 28 .....a quick shower doesn't seem so bad when it's so warm

Samoa has hard rains and then it is over quickly normally... but Pago Pago is the wettest place in the world.

And don't forget that the temperature will be about 30 degrees.

Samoa NEVER gets below about 75 degrees!
