Samoa with a toddler.Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa
Hi all, My husband and I are looking to plan a very last minute trip; probably to Samoa; next month, with our 17 month old daughter. From reading other posts in thorntree, Samoa gets a lot of mentions as a child friendly place to holiday in the south pacific. We are open to other possible destinations- just as long as there are direct flights from Brisbane. Any suggestions on suitable accomodation in Samoa (or elsewhere) would be appreciated. I like the idea of the fale type accomodation, as long as its practical for a toddler (eg: she can't get out of the fale by herself if we were sleeping or anything like that... Unlikely I know but I would worry being near a beach!) She is used to camping and being outdoors, but we wouldn't want to be anywhere really loud where they partied late into the night etc. We are looking at a 10 day stay and would like to move around and explore a bit. Is it worth hiring a car? Thanks
Since you don't want her slipping away in the night you'd want an enclosed fale, which are reasonably common. I rented a car. It was handy and I often had people join me on little trips and chip in for fuel costs. With a toddler you'd probably find having a car is quite handy if you intend to move around a few times. Just be prepared for people to stop you and demand money any time you turn off the main road. Everything in Samoa has a fee. | 1
