Savaii recommendation

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

Having just stayed at Tanus I'd say definitely give Tanu's a big swerve in favour of other resorts at Manase. Janes looked great, as did Regine's. The service at Tanu's was indifferent, the facilities poor and the quality of the experience, tired. They've got too comfortable and by the looks of things have spent all their profits on cars and other toys. The bathrooms are grotty. Also staff at Jane's are more helpful re pick-up and drop-off. Tanu's is just out to max the money.

I thought Tanu's was already looking worn, ragged and conceited 5 years ago when I stayed there.
There are better options on Manase.

Ditto.
As of last year, Tanu's didn't even LOOK inviting or good value compared to its neighbours.
I can't see why anyone might want to stay there, other than to follow certain guidebooks' recommendations blindly.

I've stayed at Tanu's four times over the last few and thoroughly enjoyed it, the last time being Christmas 2006

I didnt stay there personally but monitored the whole Manase accomodation. All Manase family fales seemed uniform to me apart from Vacations and Titi and Nina's. Vacations are expensive and fales are squeezed in a tiny place - i didnt undarestand why it was so favourite (always busy). Tita and Nina othe other hand is the only fales which I liked for the authenticity.... see my report from october 2007 on this website TT
