savaii stevensons at manase has any recomendations?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa
hi we have been to samoa 3 times and are going back this sept/oct. but are undecided about where to stay in savaii, we were considering regina's (have ben there before and loved it) but also thought might be nice to try something different, like - stevensons at manese, but we like to stay in the traditonal fales, but have seen photo's of open style traditional fales at stevensons, but can't see if they are directly on the beach ( which i hope they are) we are travelling with friends who have a 18mth old so thought this place might be good, as the fales at regina's don't have the railings. has any one stayed here that can comment if the fales are ok , and on the beach. i understand that the resturatant is over the other side of the road, are the shared toilets over there as well? any comments would be appriceated thanks so much ..
As far as I can recall, Stevensons was across the road from the beach - maybe I am wrong and that was only part of their place? Regina's had an ugly theft incident by staff stealing cash and TCs from a German lady's moneybelt handed over for "safekeeping" when I was there, though is otherwise quite nice, if basic. That still leaves at least 2 more beachside options though - your best bet would probably be just waiting till you get there, then comparing them on the spot. I really don't think you need to decide and book in advance. | 1
stayed at Stevensen's in 2006. they have bungalows on the beach, and rooms near the dining area behind the beach. didnt see any open fale there. the open fales next door to stevensen's is ok too (cant remember name). i stayed there before moving to stevensen's. | 2
I second #2 - just get there, arrive early afternoon, have a look and compare yourself. It is extremely unlikely that all six beach fale resorts would be full and they are not that different that it would really matter which one you go to. | 3
That was #1, Werner! ;-) | 4
Your are right of course. It is still the old TT I am used to ... There the OP was #1 and the first answer was #2. So now I will not get any answer points - how will I be able to cope with that, sigh. | 5
That stupid rating thing is nothing but a nuisance - I wish they ebolished it. It s also annoyig to see "This question is not answered" over threads like this one, with several replies on them. | 6
