scooter rental Samoa

Hey,
is there a possibility to rent scooters in Samoa? I think we don't Need a car, a scooter will be more fun, because the Islands aren't as big...
Where can I get a scooter - only in apia?

Scooters (and any two wheeled vehicles) are uncommon in Samoa. In Apia the police has a few scooters. But they are only used in town. Sometimes resorts rent them, but usually not for long. No use, as you will not get far with them. This is not little Raro (67 sqkm area only), really not. Upolu alone has 1,125 sqkm, Savaii even 1,694 sqkm.

There is a company doing 125ccm Motorcycle tours around both islands, as far as I heard. That is a bit more reasonable, if it would need to be two-wheeled. But a car is much more appropriate and easier to get.

A couple years ago you could rent scooters from Faofao Beach Fales in Saleapaga. Not sure if they still do it, or how much it costs. Getting to Saleapaga from the airport or Apia is a bit of a chore too.

Personally I rented a small car from Samoana rentals. That worked well, and a nice benefit is it gives you somewhere you can hide and lock away valuables, since there is no security at your typical fale.

I fully agree. However, the classical open Beach Fale is hardly the preferred choice anymore, different from 4 to 10 years ago, where it virtually was the only alternative to the expensive resorts. There are quite a few nice mid-range places today where a real room or a closed bungalow is offered. Samoa really moved away a bit from the budget travel destination.

Hey thanks for you answer.... we are just looking for this cheap and open fale - I really like to stay there, better than midrange hotel.... hopefulle there are some left

Still plenty of cheap fales- 50-80 tala is reasonably common, some now 100-120. Never saw any scooters so I used the bus, can be slow and not that convenient. But you can get around everywhere and very cheap.2 - 5 tala average, 10 tala maximum. I visited a lot of fales last winter and put a lot of photos and info on my facebook page - Aba Samoa - if you can still find it , it may be useful
