Tatiana Motel FUGALEI - Upolu

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

Hello guys, I am arriving into Faleolo on Dec. 5 between 11pm and midnight. Actually wondering how I can arrive, get to town, find a place to sleep and the following morning catch the boat that will (possibly) leave from the east of Upolu towards Pago Pago.
I've been trying to contact this Tatiana Motel for 2 weeks, but their email bounces back, they don't answer to faxes and it's really annoying to be calling Apia at high rates from Europe.
Does anyone know how to get a reservation and also transfers, or does anyone have any other suggestions?
Also tried transfer services advertised here, but they also don't answer.
I know life goes slow in that part of the world, but that....

`Alex,

believe it or not there is a public bus right across the street from the airport. The first bus leaves about 4 AM but by the time you get out of customs it might be worth it.

Otherwise you can get in a mini bus and share the fare with other passengers to town. Maybe 10 US dollars apiece. Don't know about that hotel. I can get back to you on that later. Its already 10:50PM here.

From Pago. John

Hey John, thanks. If it was during the day, I would just try my luck, but at midnight... The last thing I want to do is staying up the whole night just to wait for the boat next morning. So, would like to have something booked for the time when I arrive there. Ideally close to the port, but I believe that won't be possible...

Oh, and also have been trying to get in touch with these guys: taumesina.hideaway@gmail.com.
Mailed, left message on tripadvisor and Facebook. So far... nothing.

Is it really as ghetto as people online make it sound?

Are you asking about the hotel?

If that's the case, then here is my review on TA:
