Taufua Beach Fale in February

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

Hi everybody,

my whife and me are going to stay at Taufua Beach Fale and before that I have a few questions:

  • Is it possible to go around with local transport to and from there or do you have to arrange it privat?
  • Are there any small foodstores where you can get something basic like drinking water, coke, beer or small food snacks? Lalomanu looks isolated and if you only can buy overpriced water in the hotel it would be difficult,
  • Has anyone ever stayed at Taufua? Is it the bar very expensive for example water, beer, soft drinks?
  • How much is a taxi from Faleolo Airport to Lalomanu?

Sorry for so man questions, but in the Phillipines we already stayed extremely isolated one week and there was no chance to get any drinks instead the extremly overpriced drinks from the hotel bar, even a bottle of water.

Thanks for any hints in advance

There is a bus that comes out there 2 times a day I believe but make sure you don't miss it. They might need to call the driver to get him to come by.

There is small stores in the village down the road and the fales have some basic things as well. I hope that helps.

I did not find the drinks to be pricy too much. If I remember right, it was about $1.50 USD or so. It was not cheap but it was not crazy either.

No way you would want to do a taxi out there. You need to go to town and get the bus out. The bus will cost you about $4 for the three hour trip.

Here is an article from my experience there. http://travelthefire.com/taufua-beach-fales-party-samoa/

On a side note, I live in the Philippines now :)
