Vacations Beach Fale vs Regine's Beach Fale in Manase

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Samoa

Hi

We can't decide where to stay in Manase - we want a nice, clean, comfortable fale near a nice beach - surf beach if possible but we can't decide - can anyone give their recommendations please.

Do you think we need to book in advance or it is not that busy we can just turn up?

Thanks
Tina

I sent you a Private message, tina.

Dunno about Vacations, but note that theft by the owners from a German guest occured while I was staying at Regina's, so I couldn't really recommend it - even though I myself had a good time there.
The Samoa link in my signo line covers this issue.

friends of mine have just come back from Stevensons and were very happy with it. There is no surf beach near manase though

The surf is on the other side of Savai'i. Buy a copy of LONELY PLANET and you'll see where the surf is and a list of fale accommodation for surfers.
In Manase Tanu's has the best beach section for swimming & snorkeling.
You just step out of your fale and and there's the lagoon.

If you rent a jeep, lock your valuables in the vehicle.

had never had a problem with a theft anywhere in Samoa and let my stuff around manytimes. Sure i dont say you should be that reckless and theft doesnt occur.

Lets put it this way: the whole area, all fale accomodation between villages Manase-Lepa-Fagamalo-Satolepai is a lot commercial, busy and having nothing to do with the real samoan hospitality. Everything is standard tourist stuff where you meet other tourists (mostly kiwis) and real samoans only with some distance. Except for one place: Titi and Nina in Manase located next to Vacations.
In my humble opinion: Trust me, they have the best fales (not lockable though) on the best part of manase beach, hearty food - dining with the family in their fale just accross the road. If you want their number just send me a message beacause they have no sign out there are not advertised. If you want some action The Raci's club is just next door.

bummer! if you wanna surf head to south - satuiatua beach is your choice

we just got back form samoa (3rd trip) we usually stayed and loved vacation fales , we had 3 fales booked months in advance, but when we arrived we were all so disapointed our fales had been given away that morning, but more disapointing was managments treatment of us, they were so rude, they have also somehow moved fales in closer to fit more in so taken out the wooden tables that used to be between the fales, they have kind of enclosed the fales and they now have doors!! so they are no longer open tradational fales. these fales used to be my absoulte favourite, they are charging $90 tala, we ended up at regina's for $55tala and they still have they beautiful tradional fales. tanu's looked good but they were booked out. so i would NOT recommend vacations anymore.

Regina's.. is wonderful. Tell the management kristin recommended you. I am the one who begged them to build their first fale... They did.. and I have stayed there everytime I come to Samoa.

The fales are the nicest.. I always advise everyone.. while traveling in Samoa if you have a car.. leave anything you worry about in the trunk. I have never had anything stolen in any fale I have stayed.. but others have. It's best not to tempt people.

Have a great trip. Be sure to venture to the other side.. near Falealupo.. There is an amazing hidden waterfall over there.. and the blowholes.. Make sure to go.. at HIGH TIDE... GREAT times..

God bless.. Kristin

Just a note of warning about Vacation Beach Fales in Savaii.

The resort double-charged us. They requested for us to pay in cash at the start of our stay, and then charged the same amount to our credit cards after we left. We haven't gotten our refund yet. The resort owner, Leota, hasn't replied to any of our emails or calls.

Also, our credit cards were stolen from the fale. The resort was empty except for myself and my partner and the beach was more or less deserted since it's low season now. I can't say for sure that the thief was working at the resort but it seems highly likely since we hardly went far from our fales. The thief went on a shopping spree in Samoa with our card.

Hope this helps you decide! Cheers.
