accommodation in Honiara...??

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Solomon Islands

hey...am hoping to visit the Solomons for the upcoming Arts festival....any recommendations on a place to stay in Honiara...??
(I want a room with attached bathroom...)

You could try one of the big hotels, but both St Agnes and Chester (new wing only) Rest Houses have en suite rooms for a much better price, and you will be staying with locals, rather than foreigners. They also offer communal kitchens.
Links to all main Honiara accommodation on the Visitors Bureau website.
However, accommodation in Honiara is limited all the time, so it is best to book as soon as possible.

thanx Ozzie...I do have a reply from 1 place in the centre of town, but am looking at other possible options...obviously I dont wanna leave it too late...will look into those places..cheers.

A warning, the Quality Motel, near St Agnes, generally does not live up to its name.

hi Ozzie...any comments on the 'Somolon Stay'....I think it's called...??
It's right next to the markets...

You can choose to stay in Solomonislandsresorts.com . I have been to this resort and it is simply great. The services, amenities and accommodation made my holidays even more fruitful. The diving Solomon Islands is yet another attraction which made the stay simply outstanding. You too should check out this resort!

#5 looks like a plug for the King Solomon Hotel, one of the better hotels in town (but much more expensive than St Agnes or Chester). It is usually full of Australians on short to medium-term contracts.

LOL Ozzir, I stayed in the King Solomon before it became King Solomon, it was the old Hibiscus back then, against the advice from friends, but all the hotels were full up at the time so I had no choice. Interesting stay I must say, and I rather think I'd prefer the Hibiscus as it once was to what it is now (I'm not a fan of high-end hotels or resorts) :-))

#5 definitely is a plug for that place...hotel employee or tour company huh.....?? Taken with a grain of salt.

Definitely not my type of place (and not just because it would be full of other Aussies....tho that is bad enough)

It is Ozzie-owned, unlike Pacific Casino and Honiara (Chinese) Mendana and Iron Bottom Sound (Japanese) and the new one, Heritage, which I am not sure who actually owns - definitely not locals, though.
