cheap flights to and from Solomons

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Solomon Islands

I'm travelling abroad and have just been given a great opportunity to do a live-a-board in the Solomon Islands. I'm a Canadian, currently in Indonsia, and I am wondering if anyone can suggest the most budget way to fly to the Solomons from either Indonesia, East Timor, Australia or New Zealand.

I've got flexible dates and can go from anyone of these countries.

Thanks for the help.

G'day Keltay. I'm not overly confident that there are any budget flights to Honiara. Come to think of it, the Central Pacific never really has had this kind of service. From Australia (Brisbane) you could try 'Our Airline' since they fly the same route that Solomon Airlines do, the latter being in a mess right now due to their aircraft of choice. I did hear that Ozjet may be contracted by Solomon Airlines to fly BNE-HIR but unsure of the real details.

Thanks for the info, I'll have a look at some of those sights. The best I've found so far is $900 return from Brisbane. If anyone has any more options to add, please let me know.

Don't know if you have left Indonesia yet, but I returned to Australia from Solomon Islands a couple of weeks ago. Solomon Airlines is currently exploring options, including code share with various regional airlines.
Air New Guinea has a weekly flight from Port Moresby to Honiara, don't know the fare. Air Pacific also has a weekly return flight, from eother Brisbane or Sydney - you need to stay overnight in Nadi, but my Sydney friends say it was cheaper for them.

Ozziegiraffe, do you have any contact info(preferrably email address) of the agent that your Sydney friends bought tickets on Air Pacific? I tried searching for the fare on its site but it doesn't seem to work.

Thanks!
