Crossing FROM Solomons to PNG- is possible to do it legal!

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Solomon Islands

OK, although I haven't done because of poor planning here all the info required to legally cross from Solomons to PNG:

1. you must get a PNG visa before arriving in Solomons, or it would take at least 2 weeks and a LOT of hassle to get it in Honiara(proof of return ticket, bank statements..etc).

2. go to Gizo immigration office and take your CLEARANCE to leave Solomons- very easily obtained IF you have the PNG visa..otherwise, forget about it.

3. get a boat to PNG from Shortlands or Choisell to Arawa, as the situation around Buin is VERY hairy at the moment( various Solomon locals told me this..)

4. In Arawa get your entry stamp for PNG.

END.

Has anyone done this crossing? How did it go...?
