Exploring Solomon Islands

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Solomon Islands

Hi all,

For anyone who is interested in bushwalking, cycling, surfing, kayaking, mountain climbing or village stays in Solomon Islands, a bunch of friends and I have compiled a whole heap of info on a Wiki called "Exploring Solomons". Check it out at: www.exploringsolomons.wikispaces.com

The Wiki includes info on a bunch of great bushwalks in and around Honiara as well as several longer treks across the islands of Guadalcanal or Malaita. There's information on kayaking through gorgeous Marovo Lagoon or cycling to the World Heritage Listed Lake Tengano on the remote island of Rennell. And plenty more in most provinces of the country!

We all lived in Solomons at different times between 2002 and 2007 and thoroughly enjoyed it. We put together these notes because we know that it's not easy to plan these sorts of adventures in Solomons but if you make the effort, you can have a terrific experience. (ie, we're not selling anything, monitoring your emails or any of that type of rubbish.)

Cheers,
Harry Greenwell

Thanks for that!

Excellent pages, approximately a million times more useful/informative than LP's own latest, sad excuse for a guidebook to the Solomons.

Great site. How about adding treks, like the one from E. Kwaio to Auki (Malaita).

I found this one through your postings on People First and one of the other Solomon websites (Tutuvatu or TARD?).
I had already read a couple on the People First website.
Thank you for all the work you have done - I hope the site is widely read.
