Flying from Delhi to Honiara

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Solomon Islands

Does anyone know the cheapest way to fly between Delhi and Honiara? A search on Kayak, Travelocity, etc. doesn't even show results, so I need to get creative. I figure I need to switch in Australia, New Zealand, or Fiji, but everything seems ridiculously expensive. I'm also looking into flying from Mumbai. Any suggestions about airlines or stopovers I should look into?

Thanks!

The cheapest way will almost certainly be via Australia, namely Brisbane.
You are better positioned to shop for a good fare to fly there from India, once that is done, try Virgin Blue for the Brisbane-Honiara leg.

There is nothing direct from New Zealand - it is a long way from Solomon Islands. Most Kiwis go via Brisbane, a few via Fiji (there is only one flight a week, on Air Pacific). There is also one flight a week from Port Moresby. When I was working with a number of Indian nationals in Solomon Islands, they sometimes flew home via Port Moresby.
However, Pacific Blue have halved fares out of Brisbane, so the Port Moresby option may not be a bargain any more.
From India, Brisbane is closer than Fiji, and there would be more connecting flights both to India and to Honiara.
Try Solomon Airlines as well as Pacific Blue. They now do internet bookings, and have more flights each week.
