Getting to Rendova - Solomon Islands

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Solomon Islands

Hello, I'm looking for some info if anyone is able to help!

Lonely Planet suggests that the MV Pelican Express stops at Ughele in Rendova on its way to Gizo but I can't find any further information to back this up. Can anyone confirm if this is the case? If so does it also stop there on its return journey on the Monday??

Thanks in advance!

I think all the boats from Honiara to Western Province stop at Ughele in both directions. If you want to get off there, tell the crew when you board, and ask to be picked up on the return journey. If you pay for tickets in advance, they should do this for you.

Great! Thanks! :) I wasn't sure as the info on the Tetepare website intimated that only the Bikoi stopped there. I've emailed them to get some further information also but no reply just yet.

Bikoi does not alwas run on a regular schedule. Express Pelican usually leaves Honiara early Sunday morning. I would contact them (Express - you can't contact Bikoi except at the wharf) , on arrival in Honiara to enquire, if you don't hear from Tetepare, as conditions can change wothout notice.

I dont know if this will help, but we visited Rendova when we were staying at Tetepare. We got a boat from Munda to Tetepare and then a 30min boat trip to Revdova. I am not sure what you are doing in Rendova but it was pretty remote and seemed like the kind of place where you would want to line your accommodation up before hand.
