great homestay in Marovo Lagoon area

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Solomon Islands

We recently visited the Marovo Lagoon area of the Solomons to snorkel and had a wonderful stay at Matakuri Eco Lodge. It has several bungalows right on the lagoon side and a nice house reef on the surf side. The owner, Benjamin, meets you at the airstrip in Seghe and takes you by boat to the lodge. His wife cooks the delicious meals we all enjoyed. There's also a choice to bring your own food.
The grounds and facilities are spotless and attractive. He can take you on outings to other reefs or to visit a village that does carvings. Prices very reasonable.
And now there's a wonderful website that handles bookings in this area www.solomonislands-hotels.travel Very convenient.

Thanks for the review. We were looking to stay there in October for a few days. May I ask if you did any excursions to local villages, and in that case; do you have any recommendations?
