Great Village Stay in Marau SoundCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Solomon Islands
Hi Everyone, Just wanted to let you know about an awesome village stay in Marau Sound that is run by a young woman who is studying her Tourism degree and doing a great job at bringing in an income for her community. The village stay is in Su'u village (not to be confused with the Su'u village in Malaita) in Marau Sound. It is right next to the Marau Airport or you can take a boat from Honiara (provided by the village) which is 4 hours in good weather. Costs are $120SBD ($18AUD) per night or $300SBD ($42AUD) per night including meals. Like most village stays the accommodation is simple but there is a proper indoor toilet and shower. The house has three rooms with enough beds for about 8, there is also a kitchen with a gas stove so you can cook your own meals if you like. This is my favorite village stay in the Sols and I have been there several times. The people are friendly and happy to let you walk among the houses and meet people, visit the school, clinic, etc. They also put on cultural shows, arrange fishing, snorkelling trips etc. if you ask. They can also take you to the nearby Tevanipupu Resort for the evening if you are craving a cold beer or a nice meal. The village stay can be booked by emailing Ella on eltee_91@hotmail.com or PM me for further information. Thanks
