Help ... where to go.

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Solomon Islands

My daughter and I are currently planning a trip to Solomon Islands in October this year. We have booked plane tickets from Australia to Honiara, and have booked four nights accommodation at Tetepare Eco Lodge. We will have one brief night in Honiara on the way over and will then have 4 nights spare. Are there any tourist destinations we could visit on the way to or from Tetepare to give us another experience in the Solomons. It seems at this stage we will already be spending considerable time travelling so thought there may be a place on the way back to Honiara that wouldn't necessarily take extra time. Any thoughts at all would be appreciated. I can see already people on this forum have some valuable ideas but I cant seem to put the places together in my mind. Cheers, Julia from Australia

I posted in reply to your other post too. Your options are basically somewhere else in Western Province, or returning to Honiara and travelling by outboard to Gela or Savo, or larger boat (360 Discovery) to Malaita.

Hi

I went to Solomon Islands for a scuba dive trip and I loved it there. Firstly Honiara wasn't that nice and while I only had 1 night there before we flew out (I wasn't meant to stay there at all but there were flight delays) I wouldn't recommend staying there longer than absolutely necessary. I stayed at Upei Island Resort which is in the Marovo lagoon. It was beautiful here and great if you like diving, snorkeling or fishing. But it was very remote with the resort being the only one on the small island. We got there by a small plane from Honiara to Sege and then the resort picks you up by boat from there.

Good luck planning the rest of your trip.
