Honiara airport

Anyone have knowledge of the airport in Honiara? (nothing as yet at www.sleepinginairports.com) Specifically, if arriving late, can one stay there until morning?
-
And while I'm here, does anyone have updated information on budget accommodations in the town?
-
Thanks.

It isn't in sleepinginairports.com because you can't. It basically only opens when there is an international flight due in a few hours. There are up to three flights a day, and these days, most of them arrive in the middle of the day. (There was a time when it was the middle of the night.)
Domestic flights leave from a terminal about 500m away, which, even if it was open, would basically be worse than sleeping in a tent.
Good accommodation at Chester house, but you need to book in advance (mbhches@solomon.com.sb).
If you are leaving early in the morning, you could stay at the Airport motel.

Yes i just want to confirm : Chester house. It's great.
it is the best accomodation in honiara, town- overlooking veranda, friendly staff from the anglican church, and friendly people who are like a family for you around you. 200 solomon dollar a night,

If you need taxi from the aitport or toour guide for anything,...write alistar a email: traveltoursguadalcanal@hotmail.com

There is really no need to book a taxi from the airport - they meet every flight. Expect to pay $50 - $80 SBD (around $10 Australian).

So, OG, if I fly into the airport in the early a.m. from another country, I couldn't stay in the airport until morning, right? And, if I arrive in the early a.m. without a reservation at Chester House, I couldn't just show up at Chester House, either, correct? Any suggestions what to do, then? (Arriving at a different time and day would increase the cost of getting there quite a bit at the moment. In the meantime, I'll try to find out about availability at Chester House -- thanks for the their address')

BTW: sleepinginairports.com probably would like to note that Honiara as an airport where one can't spend the night, plus any other information of interest to budget travelers.

What time are you likely to be arriving, and what time are you leaving, and are you leaving the same day or the next day? That may give me other places to suggest.
(If you don't want to post it openly, send me a PM - I usually repsond within a couple of days.)
It might be worth you checking out the Solomon Airlines timetable
Note, the domestic terminal is about 500m from the International one, and a quite separate building.
