Immediate Relief and Cleanup in Gizo?

Over the past 8 months I've been conducting research on reconstruction after the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. I was all set to hand in my paper and call it a day when I read about the Solomon disaster this week.

I would like to go to Gizo to help with the immediate cleanup and disaster response, but don't want to go without an organization that can use me, as I also don't want to take resources from the people in need.

I suggest you contact the webmaster ofSolomOnline, who is in Honiara and has relatives in Gizo. He is posting up to date information from local internet stations, churches etc.
The Catholic and Uniting churches have been badly affected, and would also be a good place to start.
