| Laszlo05:27 UTC15 Dec 2007 | They claim they will have "added 2.5 times more pages on the Solomon Islands" in the new edition of their PNG & Solomon Islands guide, due to be published next May. Given that in the current guide the Solomons get a miserable 27 pages, this should at least increase their coverage of the country to roughly the same length what it has in the ageing Moon South Pacific Handbook (some 80 pages). It will still be MUCH less than what they used to have in their separate Solomons guides in the 90es, and unfortunately it seems the coverage of PNG won't be expanded. Length is one thing, I'll be curious to see the quality of the information - the current edition is pretty awful, possibly the poorest-researched of the Pacific guides.

| ozziegiraffe11:15 UTC15 Dec 2007 | A little bit of good news. When they did the 2004 version, I had several email contacts with the author - but nothing this time. However, I haven't bought the 2004 book, because I have more individual knowledge than is available in it, and a current Solomon Islands phone book beside my computer. I probably won't buy another until they do a separate Solomon Islands one again. Meanwhile, there could be some changes to flights to and within Solomon Islands in the New Year. The Prime Minister is out and a new one will be elected before Christmas. One of the main causes of the no confidence motion was political interference in the running of the airline.
