Morovo Lagoon- a few tips

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Solomon Islands

Here are a few tips from my trip in May 2007:

  1. When you book your accommodation from Honiara(at the Tourism Office) make sure that they actually talk on the phone with your chosen lodge and you know the latest prices and transfer fees. I was there in May 2007 and they did a very poor job on advising the lodge of my arrival, having in the end to arrange on the spot some transfer( a bit complicated..as the locals tried to rip me off).

2.Charrapuana is expensive in comparison with most of the other lodges..but the snorkeling is amazing in the channel behind the lodge:
The food wasn't very good either...and the transfer fee was ridiculous: 500 sol. dollars one way!!

3.Manticuri lodge (sorry about spelling)- very nice family..good food and reasonabil prices.
The snorkeling tours they have are not a bad value if there are more that 3 people...or so.

4.The flight from Honiara over the lagoon is amazing..do it:)

Thanks for the post, I am still trying to sort out what to do during a fortnight in Solomons before a week scuba diving and all information is appreciated.
