Payment of Tourist Visitor Visa Fee - Solomons

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Solomon Islands

Hi there -

Anyone have any tips/suggestions for paying this?

My wife needs a visa and the advice from the High Commission in Australia is that the fee (SBD$200) needs to be paid direct to the Ministry of Commerce, Labour and Immigration in Honiara. They suggest "find someone who can pay it for you there."

Needless to say, this is a bit difficult if you don't live there!
Has anyone managed to find someone who can assist with this at a reasonable price?

This policy seems ridiculous and certainly isn't encouraging tourism!

Comments appreciated!

left Solomons on 30.April after a 3 months tourist visit. This was my 25th visit there since 1985. Immigration wants to collect fees!!!

What passport does your wife use? I'm Australian, just booked flights, and have been travelling there for more than 20 years. Never needed a visa except when I was working, and staying for longer than 3 months.
When are you going?
