Does anyone have experience of getting a PNG tourist visa in Honiara? Cheers!

Got my PNG tourist visa in Honiara in 2006. It saved me some money compared to the payment for visa on arrival at Port Moresby airport. Needed some passport pictures and a letter of introduction from the German honorary consul in Honiara, a plane reservation was needed as well.
They were weary about foreigners going over the Western border to Bougainville Island. If I would have told them I wanted to use this still unofficial entry point I wouldn't have received a visa, so flew from Honiara to Moresby.
I am until April in Honiara so I can ask at PNG highcommision for present details on Monday

here the result of yesterdays Tuesday 7.Febr. visit to PNG high commission in Honiara:

it is open for public 900am to midday from Monday to Thursday

tourist visa is 240 Sol-$, which is a bit more than 20 Euro
processing time is officially 5 working days
granting time is 60 days

a) you need a filled in application form
b) 1 passport picture
c) air ticket to PNG
d) pay the fee

during I was waiting there in line I met a country compatriot, a German yachtsman just delivering his visa application, he told me for him the visa was 632 Sol-$, I heart the reception lady telling him the processing time would be 5 working days, he asked then the lady if it could be done until Thursday, after some enquiry in the backoffice she said he could collect his visa on Thursday at 1000am, so processing time seems to be flexible.

I asked if it is possible to cross into PNG from Shortlands in Western Solomons into Southern Bougainville Island. Got told this is NOT possible I should fly to Port Moresby. Should go to Guadalcanal Travel Service and buy there an airticket to Moresby, which was required for the visa application.

Best Regards from Honiara
