| ozziegiraffe06:14 UTC15 Jul 2007 | I have been in Honiara nearly a week - last trip was December 06. Everyhting is pretty quiet - the odd truck of smiling RAMSI soldiers (met a whole lot from PNG at the ATM on Saturday - very friendly). No obvious reaction to the appointment and swearing-in of Julian Moti as Attorney-General, though most locals are not happy about it - they want a local, of course. The Independence Anniversary and trade show in Auki went very well - again, no problems anyone noticed, and some young women I know were there. The good news - more ATMs and better roads - we went all the way to Selwyn College (North West Guadalcanal, and the road is better than it was in the 1990s. Even the suburban road to Naha is being fixed.
Going to rural Malaita tomorrow, and Santa Cruz in a ocuple of weeks.
